Why would you continue battling insomnia if you can easily fall asleep using SOMESTA® tonight?

Even losing sleep a few nights a week can significantly impair your ability to function and decrease the quality of your life. You know by now how you feel without proper sleep: fatigue, irritability and a loss of concentration are high on the side effects list for insomnia.

SOMESTA® combines quality ingredients designed to fight your insomnia on a long term basis. The ingredients in this proprietary blend (MELATRYPTOPHAN 561mg) have been carefully balanced to complement each other and produce positive results in a relatively short amount of time.

How SOMESTA® will help:

• Helps Stimulate the Sleep Process
• Helps you Relax
• Combats Stress

Studies have shown that insufficient sleep is the leading cause for stress related diseases. Your 7-9 hours of downtime every night actually help you eliminate stress, regenerate your energy levels, repair any damages in your body and recover or fight off diseases. Difficulty sleeping can affect many aspects of life. People who don't get the recommended amount of sleep for their age groups can have a myriad of negative affects. Daytime crankiness, difficulty concentrating, frequent illness, depression, and accidents are all common problems associated with poor sleep habits. Stress and a lack of sleep can cause a variety of health related problems, many of which can be serious.

Lack of Sleep can cause:

1. Depression and Anxiety
2. Delayed Reflexes
3. Mental and Physical Exhaustion
4. Slower metabolism
5. Slow recovery from infections and diseases
6. Depressed immune system
7. Decreased attention span
8. Irritability

Insomnia does not only apply to people who cannot sleep at all; many people suffer from sleeping disorders such as difficulty falling asleep, sleeping through the night and even more commonly a lack of quality sleep. Sleep is not only necessary in quantity, but even more importantly quality. Do you sleep through the night but wake up exhausted? Perhaps you are getting the number of hours you need, but not the deep sleep you need just as much. SOMESTA® will help you fall asleep faster, deeper and provides you with a better quality sleep.

Doctors can prescribe medication to help, but these medications have undesirable side effects. Stomach problems, dizziness, daytime drowsiness, difficulty awakening, accidents, and poor coordination are all common. Not only do prescription sleep medications have negative side effects, they also don't cause healthy sleep. They cause sedation or unconsciousness--not the restful, healing sleep you need.

Whether you want a little help falling asleep occasionally or a long-term supplement that will help restore your body's natural sleep rhythms, SOMESTA® can help you restore the sleep you need.

SOMESTA® combines the benefit of immediate results with long term effects. Melatonin will help you fall asleep instantly, whereas Valerian will take longer to take full effect, but it will aid your body to regulate your own sleeping patterns. Instead of developing an addiction, like commonly happens with prescription drugs, you will actually need to use SOMESTA® less and less over time.
The ingredients in SOMESTA® have been carefully balanced to complement each other and produce positive results in a relatively short time. SOMESTA® is not addictive and no serious side effects have been found in relation to the ingredients. However, if you are taking prescription drugs you should consult your doctor before using any type of supplement, as the drugs you are taking could in rare cases interact with the ingredients of the supplement.

But you don't have to choose between sleep deprivation and unwanted medication--nature has provided us with many natural remedies for sleeplessness.

The proprietary blend found in SOMESTA® called MELATRYPTOPHAN 625mg contains a carefully balanced formulation that will help you sleep and contains the following ingredients:

L-Tryptophan is the precursor to Serotonin, a neurotransmitter in the brain, which is deficient in depression, and naturally enhances sleep.

L-Tryptophan can be recommended to enhance structure and function relating to nutritional needs and deficiencies pertaining to:

• Low Serotonin levels and L-Tryptophan levels have been associated with depression
• Increases in Serotonin have also been noted in Chemical addictions
• Sleep Deprivation. Supplementation naturally enhances relaxation and sleep
• Having an effect on pain tolerance
• Increasing Serotonin Production

What is L-Tryptophan?

L-Tryptophan, an essential amino acid, is the precursor to Serotonin, which is a necessary neurotransmitter responsible for transmitting nerve impulses in the brain, and inducing sleep and tranquility. Serotonin deficiencies, which are related to L-Tryptophan deficiencies, are well documented in cases of depression and insomnia. L-Tryptophan also converts to Niacin, and Vitamin B-6 (Pyridoxal 5'Phophate) is necessary for L-Tryptophan metabolism and conversion to Serotonin.

L-Tryptophan is very important for biochemical balance of the brain, and is very helpful for those with sleep deprivation, anxiety and mood enhancement due to low Serotonin levels. It also helps to biochemical balance the brain in those whose Serotonin levels are low because of chemical addictions. It has also been effective in appetite control, increasing pain tolerance and assisting those with jet lag.

L-Tryptophan and Sleep:

Sleep deprivation is a serious concern for many, and low Serotonin level are often the cause of this problem. L-Tryptophan converts to Serotonin helping induce relaxation and naturally enhancing sleep. Vitamins B-6, along with increasing dietary complex carbohydrates are important for proper metabolism and increasing effectiveness.

Melatonin is a naturally occurring chemical substance present in most foods, including rice, barley, corn and meat. Melatonin has also been shown to be produced by the pineal gland in the brain. Melatonin plays a role in supporting the biological clock’s natural wake-sleep cycle.

Daylight reduces melatonin production, such that blood levels are usually high at night and low during the day. Artificial light reduces melatonin production. Shift-workers who sleep in darkened rooms with their eyes closed can increase melatonin production during daylight hours.

It is now believed that the initiation and overall quality of sleep is related to this natural rise and fall of melatonin. Most people exhibit normal day and night melatonin levels until they reach their mid-20s. Melatonin levels tend to decline with age and by their mid-60s, many people exhibit significantly decreased day and night melatonin levels. The fact that melatonin production declines so drastically with age probably explains many of the sleep disturbances seen in the elderly. By age 40, melatonin levels begin to decline, and adults often begin experiencing acute insomnia as a result.

People looking for a sleep solution may be helped by taking melatonin, as will persons whose natural wake/sleep cycles have been disturbed. Melatonin is also helpful to people who are trying to wean themselves off of sleep medications. Unlike sleep induced by prescription drugs, melatonin-induced sleep does not suppress Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep -- and does not result in "hangover" feelings the next day.

Chamomile is one of natures oldest and gentlest herbal sleep aids. It is most often drunk as a tea, which has a mild and pleasant taste. In addition to promoting calm and restfulness, chamomile is also used in cases of stomach irritation.

Chamomile is mild enough that it can be used daily for extended periods of time. It doesn't cause dependency, and has no side effects. It may, though, be an allergen for people who are allergic to daisies.

Experts are not sure how chamomile works to induce sleep. US Pharmacist reports that apigenin, a flavonoid in chamomile, may help to promote sleep, but that other components are probably also involved.

Valerian is a root that has long been used as an herbal sleep aid. It has a characteristic smell which comes from isovaleric acid. Valerian can be used to help occasional sleeplessness, but is also particularly helpful taken long-term.

Many studies have shown valerian root to be an extremely safe and effective way to promote sleep. Patients who take valerian report that they feel less anxious and nervous, and have better rest at night.

Clearly, there are many benefits of valerian, and it causes none of the negative effects on concentration and alertness that prescription medications, thereby making it an excellent choice for people who suffer from chronic insomnia.
